We had our ceremony and our reception at Catlin Gardens. It was absolutely wonderful!! I don't think that we could have a picked a better place. It was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond for any request that we or our guests had. Jamie the maitre D was absolutely unbelievable. When we got back from our honeymoon our family and friends wrote us so many emails on how they had never seen someone want to help more then he did. It was absolutely perfect and we recommend them to anyone!

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at Catlin Gardens on October 17, 2009.James (banquet manager) and Jamie (maitre d) were excellent on the day of our wedding. They kept us on top of our schedule and offered suggestions when things were not going to plan such as moving the festivities inside when the weather was not agreeable and moving around the cocktail hour and ceremony to accommodate the drama that came with the bride leaving her wedding dress at home. They ran the event very well and were courteous and responsive to all of our guests. They remembered our guests' food allergies and other food preferences and made sure to take good care of our handicapped and elderly guests and our friends with children. We received comments from our bridal party and friends afterward the wedding that this was the smoothest wedding they'd ever been to, that there was never a gap between events where people were standing around wondering about what to do next.We owe a lot to James and Jamie, for their patience and professionalism.

I am so glad that I had my wedding at Catlin Gardens. The people there were so helpful during the planning and on the day itself. I didn't have to worry about a thing. The food was great, and the Catlin Gardens staff went out of their way to provide a special plate and a separate cake for me because of my food allergies. The grounds are beautiful, and all of our guests said what a wonderful time they had there.

The people who work for Catlin were always very professional and responsive. My wedding turned out exactly how I wanted, if not better. The cost of Catlin is a little on the pricier side for the area, but it is completely worth it! It is such a beautiful place to have a wedding.

Catlin Gardens is a beautiful place to get married. Although it rained on my wedding day they did a beautiful job of getting me what i wanted. The food was great and my pictures are unbelivable. The service was good but needs some improvement. I would recommend this place to any bride to be.

Great and beautiful venue. The gardens are fantastic. The food was excellent at a reasonable rate. The staff working with you on the day of the wedding is wonderful!! I would definitely recommend Catlin Gardens to anyone who wants an elegant, beautiful wedding!Downside: The wedding cake is a part of the catering package, but if you want a more modern design for your cake, I would suggest attempting to take the cake out of the package. Our cake tasted fine, but looked HORRIBLE! It was a disaster. Be very upfront with what you want and make sure you stay on top of the people who are meant to be communicating your wishes to others.

Staff was very professional, Jamie the Matre'd was exceptional. Food was very good. Looked into having pictures taken ahead of time to avoid the rain, they wanted to charge an extra fee for this and were not flexible with the dates

Everything turned out perfect for my wedding. The staff was able to quickly change plans from outside cocktail to inside due to a crazy storm. I had alot of stress with CG up until right before the rehearsal dinner due to a change in my coordinator and then poor information about the Inn. My main issues were the lodging, as I was told we could use the Inn and it wasn't even built by the time of the wedding. Most hotels in the area were sold out due to West Point graduation, which, when we booked we were not told about. The venue itself, staffing, food, etc. turned out beautiful at the wedding. I have no complaints from the day of the wedding. They pulled everything together!

Yes, it was beautiful and the staff was great. The only issue was the strict liability request for all vendors, which made it difficult to hire an affordable DJ and harpist. Also, my sister was going to make me my cake, however she could not do to liablity. Also, I had to replace my real grapes with fake ones for the same reason.

My husband and I got married at Catlin Gardens in Slate Hill, NY, exactly one year ago today July 25, 2010. We wanted an outdoor unique setting for both our ceremony and reception. We LOVED the gardens and the unique look of Catlin. The ceremony tent and design of the reception room are beautiful! The grounds are gorgeous and constantly maintained. Great site for pictures. HOWEVER, when we first went for a tasting, which we had to each pay for, we were greatly disappointed in the food and service. At one point we were served RAW shrimp because no one told the guests that they weren't part of the buffet. My husband and I met with Stephanie shortly after and told her that we wanted to back out and pick a new venue. She insisted on having us come to another tasting and that the first one was not as successful due to overbooking. We went to the second tasting and it was much better. The day of our wedding it was beautiful and Jamie and James were awesome but the dinners were TERRIBLE. According to our guests cocktail hour was good but everyone was unhappy with the quality of their dinner. The steak was supposed to be encrusted in blue cheese. Dropping a few crumbles of blue cheese on top of an OVER cooked piece of beef isn't "encrusted" last time I checked. They never asked anyone including me how i wanted my steak cooked even though I was PROMISED by Stephanie that the wait staff would ask each guest. The garlic mashed potatoes looked like they were slapped on to the plate like we were in the army. The chicken was overcooked to the point of tasting like cardboard. Also, our cake was completely wrong. The filling was incorrect and the outside was supposed to have a green design on it and it didn't. The dessert buffet was supposed to include chocolate mousse but it was not served. At $160 a plate, I expected much better food. You apparently only pay for the atmosphere, so if that's more important to you than good food, then Catlin Gardens is the ideal location for you. But if you enjoy food as much as we do, then steer clear of this place. They were very nice to deal with but in the end full of broken promises. After the wedding I wrote to Stephanie to voice my concerns and she told me that I should've told Jamie and James. Were they going to recook 150 meals? Was I going to let their lack of professionalism ruin my wedding day? She told me they would work on the mash potatoes for the future, and that the dessert buffet was chef's choice, however it DOES NOT say that in their menu or contract. They list the desserts to be served and i was told at the tasting that exactly what we got is what we would have on our wedding day. Bottoms Up Restaurant around the corner from them is where we had our rehearsal dinner and the food surpassed Catlin greatly!
